Subordinate City Mayors: Debuff Guide

Mayors turn a subordinate city into a debuff engine against attackers. Which debuffs matter, how they stack, and how to plan a set.

A subordinate city is more than storage and production – with the right mayor it becomes a debuff platform that weakens anyone marching on your main. Planning that debuff is where a lot of defensive value hides.

What the mayor actually does

  • Mayor skills apply debuffs to enemy troops within range of the subcity.
  • Debuffs read against the attacker, so you plan them around the marches you expect to face, not your own.
  • The strongest defensive setups layer several complementary debuffs rather than stacking one type.
A debuff is only as good as its coverage. A huge cavalry debuff does nothing against a ground-heavy rally – plan for the troop types your server actually fields.

Plan the debuff stack

Rather than guessing which mayor and skills produce the best net debuff, model the combination first. The Subcity Debuff Planner lets you plan a mayor’s debuff coverage before you commit the resources.
